The relentless focus & vigour in Programming in 2016 has helped us to leapfrog Star Vijay & cement our position as the Number 2 GEC over the last four weeks & cross 300 GRPs for the 1st time ever this week.

This unprecedented feat was achieved by back-to-back successful fiction & nonfiction show launches. Our latest big ticket nonfiction show ‘Junior Superstars’ – a first of its kind acting talent hunt for children has opened to best ever ratings for a reality show in the channel.
2016 also saw multiple new show launches including Mr. & Mrs. Khiladis – an action adventure celebrity reality show & Thalayanai Pookal – a fiction show adapted from a famous novel. The successful launch of these new shows helped us expand our content offering & attract more viewers to sample our content & turn loyalists.
The year also saw the successful launch of new seasons of our existing popular shows like Genes, Athrishta Lakshmi, Solvathellam Unmai & Nambinal Nambungal.
Zee Tamil also premiered the biggest blockbuster film of 2016 – Popular Star Siva Karthikeyan’s Rajini Murugan this year. The movie’s premiere fetched the channel the best ever ratings for a film. September also saw us premiering another blockbuster film – Sethupathy.
