Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) achieved the 67th rank in Business Today’s 500 Most Valuable Companies in India. As per the report, in H1FY15, ZEE’s market cap was Rs 27,097.23 cr, a 21.5% increase over the same period in the previous financial year. Additionally the Profit after tax in FY 14 was Rs. 772.3 cr, an increase of 20.5% over FY13. These figures reiterate ZEE’s status as a consistent performer since inception.
The BT 500 Survey is an annual exercise to identify and gauge the performance of the biggest publicly listed companies in the country. A total of 5312 companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange were considered as the primary universe, from which 3503 companies qualified for the rankings and from that list, the top 1000 were picked. The market capitalisation of a company which mirrors the investors’ sentiments was the primary filter for ranking the companies. However, to delve deeper, other financial information was also provided and companies were ranked separately on different parameters like Total Assets, Total Income, Net Profit, profit as percentage of total income, Return on Net Worth, Return on Capital Employed and Earnings Per Share. The financial year ended March 2014 was considered for all the parameters used except for market capitalisation which was considered for the six-month period between April and September 2014.
