The influence of Zee Marathi’s show, Jai Malhar was evident when an entire village celebrated the on screen wedding of Lord Khandoba & Banai, the two central characters in the show. Thousands of devotees thronged the Khandoba temple in the village of Naldurga on the telecast day of the wedding on Zee Marathi. Naldurga, 46 kms. from Solapur, witnessed never-seen-before pomp and celebration amidst firecrackers, flower decorations, Mahaprasad & Khandoba’s Mahaabhishek to commemorate the grand Khandoba-Banai wedding on Zee Marathi. And all this was only a result of the love & following that the show has managed to garner.
According to Hindu mythology, the grand wedding of Khandoba and Banai had taken place at Naldurga, a fact which in today’s day, is known to few. The show highlighted this significance and contributed in giving a new lease of life to the village, its locals, and putting them on the map again.
The much awaited Khandoba-Banai wedding was telecast in a 2 hour long Maha-episode on Sunday, 3rd May at 7.30 PM on Zee Marathi. This was preceded by a day long marathon of Khandoba & Banu’s love story beautifully captured with narration by Narad Muni from 10 AM onwards.
With an objective to make this event the most awaited wedding of Maharashtra, a robust marketing campaign was devised including TV, Print, DTH & Digital. While promos on Marathi news channels obtained the incremental reach for the day long extravaganza, an extensive Print plan focused on the masses across Maharashtra to serve as a perfect reminder for the 2 hour Mahaepisode.
DTH was used effectively on highpoint day to drive tune-in to the show.
