Zee Marathi’s Unch Maza Zoka Awards 2015 were distributed in an event recently at Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium in Thane. Senior social activist Meera Lad was felicitated with the lifetime achievement award in this function. Meera Lad has done tremendous work for underprivileged children, leprosy patients, Adivasi schools and physically challenged people.

Zee Marathi, Maharashtra’s leading Marathi channel, media and entertainment conglomerate with its entire spirits takes pride to announce Unch Maza Zoka Puraskar 2015, which a unique step is taken by the channel in recognizing the women achievers of Maharashtra. Along with Meetatai Lad, several other women were felicitated for their exemplary work in various fields, including writer Kavita Mahajan for literature, Dr. Priyadarshini Karve in environment, Raziya Sultana in Social work, Kavita Raut in sports. Vaishali Barye who works in Pune Corporation as a sanitary worker and Monica More, who lost her both arms in a local train accident in Mumbai were also felicitated.The most touching speech was made by Pooja Ghansarwad when she narrated how she did her study in the lights of a funeral pyre. Pooja scored 91% in her SSC. She belongs to the Masanjogi community who stays in the crematorium area. Vaishali Barye who works in Pune Corporation as a sanitary worker and Monica More, who lost her both arms in a local train accident in Mumbai were also felicitated with special awards. Dr Seema Sakhare’s Stree Atyachar Virodhi Parishad from Nagpur received Unch Maza Zoka Award for the organization. DR Sakhare’s NGO is a change maker who works towards providing emotional support and shelter coupled with legal aid and confidence for women who have faced abuses, harassment and countless atrocities.

The Zee Marathi attempts to highlight the struggle and achievements of women and empower them by giving recognition to their work through these awards.
