Endearingly heartwarming and inspirational story of Dr Prakash Baba Amte -The real Hero is on its way to your Television screens on coming Sunday. Tune in to Zee Marathi on Sunday July 26th, 7 PM for the World Television Premiere of this gripping emotional tale of Dr Prakash Baba Amte.
Located in the forests of eastern Maharashtra inhabited by tribals, the film is a saga of an extraordinary journey of the life of Dr Prakash Baba Amte, the son of social worker Baba Amte and his wife Dr. Mandakini Amte. The film has Nana Patekar, Sonali Kulkarni and Mohan Agashe in lead roles.
It is a biopic on Dr. Prakash Amte, the selfless doctor and social worker who devoted his life towards the development and upliftment of the tribal people in Hemalkasa who have not been touched by modern civilization. As the son of Baba Amte, a man who dedicated his entire life for the sake of lepers who were abandoned by their family or villagers, Dr Prakash Amte had his eye set on doing something similar for the society. And when asked to choose between the comforts of the city life and working for tribals, the trained medical practitioner chose the latter. His efforts at the Lok Biradari Prakalp in Hemalkasa helped in treating the tribals who were initially afraid to let him do so. The film is an account of his work but is not restricted to that. It is also a story of the compatibility and love that his wife Mandakini shares with him. Though all this can’t be covered in a little more than 2 hours, the film manages to summarize the important chapters of the Ramon Magsaysay award winning couple whose life is a standing example of selfless service for the sake of humanity.
The actor of the Marathi film Nana Patekar in lead role says about the film that the film is a tribute to a cause and it is very much heartening to know that the people have appreciated it in such a big way in theatres.
The actress, Sonali Kulkarni who played Dr Mandakini Amte brought out her experience of working with such a senior and seasoned artist as Nana Patekar. It is challenging to live upto the standards of a senior actor like Nana Patekar. It is not only a story of struggle and sacrifice but also the unconditional love between a husband and a wife, the film is a humbling experience, she added.
The Director, Samruddhi Porey, said that the movie has been her dream project. I wanted the world to see the princely work of Dr Prakash Amte and Mandakini Amte. The film runs like a make-believe film story but the beauty is that it is a portrayal of reality.
A saga of an extraordinary journey of the life will be televised on Sunday, 26th July 2015@ 7pm only on Zee Marathi
