The most awaited Marathi film and theatre awards – Sunsilk presents Zee Gaurav Awards 2014 were held at a glittering function on 20th March 2014 at MMRDA grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Love’ and all the acts were designed around the theme this year. The highlights of this year’s show were the honor conferred upon the legends. Amongst the beneficiaries were noted Marathi and Hindi film screenwriter Mr. G. R Kamat apart from renowned Marathi actor Mr. Shrikant Moghe; who completed 50 years in Marathi cinema.
Known for his valuable contribution to Marathi and Hindi films, Mr. G. R. Kamat has written screenplay for many hit films like ‘Pedgaonche Shahane’, ‘Lakhachi Goshta’ ( In Marathi) apart from titles like ‘Bombai ka Babu’, ‘Kala Pani’,’Mera gaon Mera Des’, ‘Mera Sayaa’, ‘Pukar’, ‘Do Raste’, ‘Do Chor’, ‘Main Tulsi tere Aangan Ki’, ‘Basera’, ‘Manchali’ ‘Kacche Dhage’ and others in Hindi. Veteran Actress Rekha Kamat, received the LTA award of Mr G R Kamat. While receiving the award on behalf of her husband, she thanked Zee Gaurav for remembering her husband’s valuable contribution. She said that it was a tribute to his Gurus and the audience who loved his films.
Mr. Shrikant Moghe, veteran Marathi actor who began his career in theatre with late P. L. Deshpande, was praised for his performances in hit Marathi plays ‘Varyavarachi Varaat’, ‘Lekure Udand Jhali’, ‘Garudjhep’, ‘Mritunjay’ , ‘Alexander’ apart from many Marathi films including ‘Prapanch’ ‘Daiva Janile kuni’, ‘Donhi Gharcha pahuna’ ‘Shevatcha Malusara’ ,’Aamhi Jato Aamuchya Gava’ and others. Mr. Shrikant Moghe, dedicated this award to his lyricist brother, late Sudhir Moghe, who passed away few days ago.

We at Zee Marathi are privileged to honor the winners with these awards that have garnered immense respect over the years and are the most accredited awards.
This year’s event began with the participants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa who presented a welcome song that was followed by the presentation of the technical awards section. Ankush Choudhary and Sayee Tamhankar anchored the show that witnessed several deserving celebrities and work taking the honors. Sayee was also bestowed with a special award Sunsilk Natural Recharge Performance of the Year for her outstanding work in the movie Duniyadari. Keeping with the theme of the event, real life couple Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat performed to a medley of songs apart from scintillating performances by Sonali Kulkarni Jr, Pooja Sawant, Mansi Naik and Shruti Marathe. There was also a specially rain song performance by various artists of Zee Marathi soaps. Tochi Raina of Kabira fame, performed to a medley of his hit numbers and had the audience swaying to his tunes. There were also a number of skit performances performed by famous stand-up comedians from the industry.
Some of the noted celebrities that graced the evening were Dr. Jabbar Patel, Arun Kakade, Kamlakar Sontakke, Rajdutt, Mohan Agashe, Mohan Joshi, Reema, Sonali Kulkarni, Rohini Hattangadi, Sayaji Shinde, Mahesh Kothare, Avadhoot Gupte, Kedar Shinde, Adesh Bandekar, Ravi Jadhav, Sanjay Jadhav, Mrunal Kulkarni, Swati Chitnis, Siddharth Jadhav, Uday Tikekar, Adinath, Urmila Kanetkar Kothare, Kranti Redkar, Meena Naik, Manasi Naik, Hemangi kavi Dhumal apart from several small screen celebrities.
This entertainment extravaganza, Sunsilk Presents Zee Gaurav Awards 2014, is scheduled on Zee Marathi on 30th March 2014 @ 7 PM
