It’s a moment of pride for India’s biggest dance reality show ‘Dance India Dance’ and a feeling of sheer exhilaration for young Gurgaon boy Gauransh Chauhan who shot to fame with his crackling audition dedicated to his idol Michael Jackson. In 2010, the 7 year old landed up at the auditions of Season 2 of DID dressed as a Junior MJ and moved flawlessly to the pop icon’s smash hit ‘Dangerous’, becoming an overnight sensation across the country. His impressive audition was, in fact, the catalyst that led Zee TV to announce ‘DID L’il Masters’ the dancing talent hunt show for kids to tap the pool of immensely talented child dancers in the country. Recently, Michael Jackson’s official page on Facebook has shared his audition video from Dance India Dance, tagging the young boy as the next MJ . Being featured on MJ’s official page that has 76 million followers across the world has given Gauransh’s dancing talent the kind of international exposure aspiring dancers across the country can only dream of!

Terence Lewis said, My association with DID for three seasons has brought me to the realization that nothing succeeds like talent and hard work and sometimes it may take more time than usual to get your due, but it does come eventually! Gauransh’s rise to fame is an example of that! I remember seeing him in the auditions and was bowled over by his impersonation of MJ! I remember thinking that time that prodigious kids like Gauransh are born once in a lifetime! It was so perfect that if MJ himself had to take part in the competition, he’d probably lose to Gauransh by a few points! The amazing thing is that these things cannot be taught, you either have it within you or you don’t! He has captured the essence of MJ by just seeing a few videos on YouTube! Gauransh, to me, is like Eklavya (self taught) and I connect with him for this very reason! Thank God for Dance India Dance the show is a cradle which has and will continue to nurse the budding talents of many such prodigious kids who otherwise would have gone unnoticed! As a dancer, he has been a role model, a ray of hope and a source of immense inspiration for me and millions of dance enthusiasts across the world, spanning two entire generations. So, when Gauransh, at a tender age of 7 years and hailing from a modest background in Jaipur, having only watched his videos, did a brilliant rendition of his style at the auditions of DID Season 2, he had us all floored. It broke our heart to turn him away as he did not meet the minimum age criterion. And this in turn led Zee TV to launch the children’s edition DID L’il Masters. Gauransh’s father Jagbir Singh said, We’re truly overwhelmed It’s happened at a time when we were least expecting it. It’s been 4 years since Gauransh auditioned on DID Season 2. And the clip going viral and receiving a worldwide response and all-round applause from Michael Jackson’s fan base, calling him the next MJ is a dream come true. We’d like to specially thank Fernando Aguilera, his Argentinian guru, whose Ballet company Gauransh trains at. Fernando has been extremely supportive and affectionate towards Gauransh he’s been kind enough to waive off his fees and encourages and motivates him to learn new dance styles. Gauransh is originally from Gurgaon, is 11 years old now and studies at the 7 Square Academy School in Mumbai where his family is currently based.
