On a balmy Saturday evening in May, the contestants of Dance India Dance Season Two were declared the winners of Dance Ke Superstars! After six long weeks of proving themselves to viewers and judges alike, their sweat and toil came to a culmination on the Grand Finale of Zee TV’s Dance Ke Superstars on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 8PM.
The Grand Finale saw Mithunda, the grand master of dance along with Geeta ‘Maa’ Kapoor, ‘Udi baba’ Marzi Pestonji and ‘Fultoofatak’ Rajeev! With each and every contestant taking to the stage for the Finale, the show saw many electrifying moments as memories were relived and new ones were created. The young captains of both teams have gained accolades all through the season! Ruturaj and Vaishnavi have already found a spot in Shiamak and Remo’s hearts with their consistently brilliant performances. Little Avneet, too, stole the grand master’s heart with her expressions and graceful dancing; so much so that Mithunda expressed his disappointment in being unable to be the lead hero when she is cast as a leading actress when she grows up! Mayuresh and Bhavna’s beautiful aerial act was proclaimed to be the best that Dance India Dance has seen across seasons. Even the errant Jai Kumar Nayar redeemed himself in the eyes of the judges with his use of props in his solo performance. However, the icing on the cake was Dharmesh, Siddhesh, Prince and Parvez’s ultimate face-off that had each of the judges and the audience on their feet.
Victory was sweet for the Jalwa team as they could not contain their happiness on being declared the winners of the season! I have nothing but great respect for the contestants of Season One as it was their hard work and skills that paved the way for dancers like myself in season two. However, I am extremely proud that even after being pitched head to head with such talented dancers, the hard work that we have put in has finally paid off! said an elated Dharmesh as he held the trophy high.
The dance reality show will now make way for little singing stars to take the stage as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs goes on air from 3rd June onwards at 10 pm, every Friday & Saturday, only at Zee TV.
