Multi award winning medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is back with its latest season on Zee Cafe. Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 will go on air on Zee Caf on August 2, Thursday at 7:30 PM.
Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama set at the fictional Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital in Seattle. The series covers the stories of five surgical interns and their supervisors at the hospital as they try to balance their personal lives with the demands of their medical training. The main character is Meredith Grey, who is married to a neurosurgeon at the hospital .The show follows her life as a third year resident at the hospital in the surgical department run by Dr Richard Webber. It covers not only her relationship with her husband, but also with her best friend Cristina Yang and her interactions with the other doctors and staff.
Having attained commercial success and critical acclaim, Grey’s Anatomy was among the top-ten rated shows in the United States from its first through fourth seasons. The series has received numerous awards, and has also been included in various critics’ top ten lists. In 2011, after its seventh season, Grey’s Anatomy was named the fourth-highest revenue earning show, in terms of advertising per half-hour.
Grey’s Anatomy has won the ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ award at the NAACP Image Awards four times, from 2006 2009. Washington won ‘Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series’ in 2006 and 2007, and Wilson won ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series’ in 2007 and 2008. She won ‘Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series’ in 2009, and ‘Award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series’ in 2010, when Rhimes won ‘Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series’. In 2006, Grey’s Anatomy was named ‘Favorite TV Drama’ at the People’s Choice Awards. Dempsey won ‘Favorite Male TV Star’ in 2006 and 2007, and Heigl won both ‘Favorite Female TV Star’ in 2007 and ‘Favorite TV Drama Actress’ in 2009. Wilson also won ‘Favorite Scene Stealing Star’ in 2007. Pompeo won ‘Best Actress in a Drama Series’ at the 2007 Satellite Awards, and the show won ‘Best New Series’ at the 2005 Writers Guild of America Awards. Also in 2007, the show, along with Shonda Rhimes was the recipient of the Women in Film Lucy Award, in recognition of the excellence and innovation in the show as a creative work that has enhanced the perception of women through the medium of television.
