Film registers a 30 percent increase in multiplexes on weekend…

Jazbaa is Irrfan’s highest opening and it beats Ash’s last release too!

Produced by Nittin Keni and Akash Chawla of Zee Studios, Jazbaa establishes a new high for global icons Irrfan Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, blowing past their previous films first day collections with an all new high of Rs 4.23 crores in India. Seeing an increase by 30 percent in multiplexes on Saturday, the film is co-produced by Sachiin Joshi’s Viiking Media and Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films. The film maintained its stronghold on the Sunday Box Office and earned Rs 5.52 crores.

The collections overseas is growing steadily with Middle East earning 1.2 million Dirhams over the weekend. The film rocks in Pakistan too earning PKR 3.5 million at the Box Office on Day 1. The opening weekend crowd was impressive and is only growing with audiences saying it’s a must watch thriller with performances that pack in a punch by all in the cast – Irrfan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni and Chandan Roy Sanyal.

Girish Johar of Zee Studios confirms, “After a decent start on Day 1 in India, JAZBAA has picked up strongly in the evening and night shows… it collected Rs 4.23 crores on Day 1 and approx Rs 5.49 crores on Day 2. Day 3 started on an even stronger note and collections on Sunday ended at Rs 5.52 crores. Strong word of mouth to the whodunit thriller has ensured a good start to Monday Box Office too.”

“Despite being a limited release (1500 screens in India and 400 internationally), it is Irrfan’s highest opening and it is bigger than Aishwarya’s last release. The collections overseas is superb too, with close to 1 million Dirhams in just 2 days from the Middle East alone and PKR 3.5 million in Pakistan too! JAZBAA is a HIT. The film is definitely poised for a long, long run with such a good start,” he adds.

A little ridicule and cry over ‘Bandeyaa‘ not having any good video footage in the movie is best you can take as a negative comment. Some uttered Ashwariya’s lack of grief-stricken motherhood while some said it was too fast. Both none ended up being bored.
