The first and biggest Ganesh Utsav of America was held in Jersey City, New Jersey from September 5th to September 9th. More than 2 lakh people visited the event to seek the blessings of the Vighnaharta. Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis was the guest of honor. She felt honored to be a part of the celebrations at such a grand scale thousands of miles away from India.
Jallosh commenced the Visarjan ceremony with some foot tapping & energetic Nashik Dhol that echoed through the entire Jersey City locality. With emotions high & energy pumped up, people gave it their all & participated in the final performing ceremony for Zee TV’s Ganesh Utsav 2016. And as tradition goes, the rain gods didn’t disappoint & the rains lifted everyone’s spirit instead of dampening it. Indian style Visarjan was brought alive in Jersey City, New Jersey & the celebrations were kicked off with traditional dancing.
The heavy rains & beating of Nashik Dhols only further fueled the energy of the people present at the celebrations & traditional dancing was on in full swing. People danced their heart outs while chanting & screaming “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Urchya Varshi Lavkar Ya.” Zee TV’s Ganesh Utsav 2016 single-handedly displayed the true spirit of Ganesh festival & brought joy to millions of Indians who reside in America.
With happy tears people bid farewell to Bappa with a promise to welcome the “lord of new beginnings” very soon.
