Simran Pareenja & Fenil Umrigar to play Kaali and Gauri while Rohan Gandotra has been roped in to play Yug
TV’s recently launched primetime offering Kaala Teeka, a poignant social drama that attempts to break the shackles of age-old superstitions and endeavors to create awareness against it amongst the masses, is now set to take a leap of 14 years. Set in Mithila, Bihar, it is the story of two young girls (Kaali & Gauri) whose lives are entwined by an act of superstition. Amidst major twists and turns the show will introduce new characters in its plot.
While the beautiful Simran Pareenja has been roped in to play the role of the older Kaali (earlier played by Sargam Khuran), Fenil Umrigar will assay the role of older Gauri (earlier played by Adaa Narang)… And the handsome Rohan Gandotra will be seen playing the male lead Yug. On being roped in as the older Kaali, Simran Pareenja shared, “The script of the show is very well written as it delivers a very strong social message in the most engaging manner. I’m very excited to be a part of the show and play Kaali. Preparing for the role has been an amazing experience. It’s a nice warm family on the sets, and I am trying my best to play the character convincingly. Let’s hope the audiences like me as Kaali.”
Fenil Umrigar who plays the older Gauri shared, “This is a very interesting story and I’m happy to be a part of the show and play Gauri who has grown up to be a nasty, mean, spoilt brat who just throws her weight around and doesn’t listen to anybody except Kalyani. The role calls for a certain style and attitude. I’m very different from the character and so it’s been a challenge. I eagerly await the audience’s reaction to my performance.”
Playing the male lead Yug in the show, Rohan Gandotra added, “After Qubool Hai this is my second stint with Zee TV and I consider myself fortunate to be associated with the channel yet again. The concept of the show is really strong and so is my character. I play Yug in the show who is a representation of today’s youth and is against any kind of superstitious beliefs and raises his voice against such things He is righteous but not rigid, disciplined but not time-controlled, believer but not a fanatic, helper but not overtly benevolent. Needless to say… I’m absolutely enjoying my role and I’m certain that audiences will like me in my new avatar.”
The show post leap will see Kaali and Gauri growing up, following the same superstitious beliefs. While Kaali will grow up to be a young woman with a golden voice, Gauri will be seen reaping rewards of Kaali’s vocal talents posing as a singing sensation while Kaali sings in the background. It will be love at first ‘hearing’ for handsome Yug who will instantly fall for Gauri’s voice. But it isn’t really Gauris voice, now is it? Will Kaali ever get the due for her talent and live a life on her own terms? Will Yug get to know the truth about Kaali’s talent?
To find out, stay tuned to Kaala Teeka as it sees a 14 year leap on 3rd February and airs every Monday-Friday at 7:00PM, only on Zee TV!
