As India’s leading broadcaster, Zee Entertainment was invited to speak at the Dubai International Film Festival earlier this month. Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative, Special Projects represented Zee at the event ‘where she participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Beyond the Screen: Film & Television as Social Agent’.

The panelists included film makers and media professionals from across the world who seek to drive social change through their work. They shared their views on how films and television content can bring about social change and bridge divisions.

Shailja spoke about how ZEE has been using television to change the way Indians perceive their neighbours in Pakistan first with the launch of the TV channel Zindagi and very soon with the launch of its upcoming Zeal for Unity films, a series of 12 short films produced by ZEE and directed by some of the biggest names in India and Pakistan including the likes of Aparna Sen, Oscar winner Sabiha Samar, Nikhil Advani, Meenu Farjad, Bijoy Nambiar, Mehreen Jabbar and Tigmanshu Dhulia amongst others.
