ZEE is once again supporting the Mayor of London’s Eid Festival at Trafalgar Square, with this year marking the 10th year anniversary of the impressive event which will take place on Saturday 25th July, 12pm to 6pm.
As the exclusive media partner of the event, ZEE is working closely with City Hall on the entertainment line-up. ZEE’s very own Asad Shan will be hosting the event to encourage some lively audience interaction. Hosts of the live chat show Zee Companion on Zee TV will also be there throughout the day to interact with the crowds at the ZEE stand and give them an in-show experience.
The Eid celebrations promise to be a family occasion with multi-cultural appeal. The day will be packed full of performances and will reflect the many different communities in London and celebrate their diversity. Visitors to the free event can expect to be entertained with an exclusive highlight of Shubbak, which is one of the largest biennial festivals of contemporary Arab culture in an exhilarating concert. Performers include Egypt’s legendary alternative band MassarEgbari, who mix rock, jazz and blues with oriental music and ground-breaking Palestinian collective 47SOUL, who are bringing the energetic beats of dabke, shaabi and electro-Arabic to the capital. Karama, an exciting London-based band led by oud player SoufianSaihi, with musicians from Venezuela, Spain, Japan, Morocco and the UK, will perform a set inspired by gnawa, Arabic classical music and the diverse sounds of the city from Saihi’s London busking days.
ZEE will also be bringing to stage the popular nasheed band Ashiq Al Rasul who have been performing for over 15 years and through their music reach to all communities and faith to promote peace, love and hope. Musician and songwriter, Saif Adam is also performing. Originally from Essex, Saif has collaborated with Ed Sheeran and N-Dubz and writes nasheed songs to reach out to the community and spread the message of peace and unity.
