Zee Marathi Chitra Gaurav Awards were presented recently at the MMRDA grounds Mumbai with more glitter, more grandeur and more glory. This year’s awards will be split in two parts – the awards for movies will be presented as Zee Marathi Chitra Gaurav Awards and Theatre awards will be presented as Zee Marathi Nattya Gaurav Awards.
This year’s Best Film was awarded to Elizabeth Ekadashi and by winning 6 awards Killa became the maximum award-winning movie. Sulochana Chavan, the voice of Maharashtrian Lawni, a significant part of music industries’ golden years was honored with the Life time achievement award by Maharashtra’s Cultural minister Mr. Vinod Tawde. What made her happier was that she got awarded on her Birthday. It was truly a special moment and the audience gave their gratitude by a full house standing ovation.
The theme for this year’s ceremony was ‘Sky is the limit for Marathi Movies..’ and in line with the theme, the stage for the event was decked with huge aircraft. This show took audiences on a joyful journey with their performances and dance numbers.
Pilot and attendants of the aircraft were Kushal Badrike, Sagar Karande, Bhau Kadam, Shreya Bugde, artists of Zee Marathi’s well acclaimed show ‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya’, In addition to this, Sandeep Pathak and Hemangi Kavi took this performance to another level.. The vibrant and witty script written by Dr. Nilesh Sable brought in some crust to the show. Also the solid chemistry between the hosts of the event, Sai Tamhankar and Nilesh Sable created a different mood.
This year total 61 Marathi movies sent in their entries for the awards. Amongst them, ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi,’ ‘Lai Bhari’, ‘Classmates’, ‘Poshter Boys’, ‘Lokmannya Yugapurush’ are some prominent names. Ritesh Deshmukh was honored as the Best Actor for his Lai Bhari performance in ‘Lai Bhari’ and Tejaswini Pandit won the Best Actress award for ‘Ticha Umbartha’. The race for Best Picture was amongst Lai Bhari, Happy Journey, Poshter Boys, Elizabeth Ekadashi and Lokmannya ek Yugapurush. However Elizabeth Ekadashi won the Best Picture award.
The cherry on the top was the moment when veteran singer and performer Sulochana Didi sang a few lines of her song. The Life Time award was handed to her by Maharashtra’s Cultural Minister, Vinod Tawde who was overwhelmed and honored to present the award.
Many prominent personalities from the Marathi Entertainment biz were present on the occasion, including veteran personalities. Dr. Jabbar Patel, N Chandra, Kamlakar Sontakke, Sonali Kulkarni, Rohini Hattangadi, Sayaji Shinde, Kedar Shinde, Adesh Bandekar, Ravi Jadhav, Sonali Kulkarni, Swati Chitnis, Siddharth Jadhav, Uday Tikekar, were among those who graced the eve along with several small screen celebrities.
