The Honorable High Court Delhi while hearing the mandatory injunction petition filed by Taj Television (and affiliate companies) was pleased to pass a John Doe Order in favour of Taj Television.
By virtue of this order the MSO / LCO / cable operator / head ends and all their representatives, franchises etc are restrained from illegally receiving the signals of Ten Cricket Channel and transmitting / telecasting / communicating the same to their customer / subscriber / end users without the permission, license or consent of Taj TV and further from in any manner infringe upon Taj TV’s rights in Ten Cricket channel in any manner whatsoever. This extends to even un-name and undisclosed persons who may be committing breach of the rights of Taj TV in a similar manner.
The Hon’ble court has also appointed 4 Commissioners (zone wise) to take immediate action against those indulging and / or supporting piracy (of any manner) and are also permitted to notify the SHO / Superintendent of the concerned police station(s) who shall ensure compliance with this Order of injunction passed by the Court.
With this Order, the Court appointed commissioner with the help and support of local police is empowered to seize the equipment / wires etc and even seal the premises / offices of MSOs/LCOs illegally/unauthorizedly involved in the illegal and unauthorized reception transmission / distributing Taj channel.
Taj TV confirm that it is taking serious note of piracy and has been monitoring cable operators / LOC’s / MCO and even internet based websites who are indulging in piracy. Cease and Desist Notices have been sent to such Web sites and site hosts, and a successful raid was conducted a few days back with 2 persons being arrested for indulging in piracy. A series of raids are being line up in the coming days to curb the menace of piracy.
Ten Cricket, which holds the broadcasting rights for the mega event in the Caribbean, will screen the series which includes a T20, 5 ODI s and 3 Test Matches. This is the first tour for World Champions India after the successful Cricket World Cup campaign.
Elated at the order, Atul Pande (CEO – TEN Sports) said, “Protection of Intellectual property is at the core of the Television business and is key for the growth of both broadcasters and distribution platforms. On that issue we will not negotiate or compromise”

Ltd. has assured that it shall ensure strict action against all those involved in channel piracy and also ensure that all the channels (Ten Sports, Ten Action + and Ten Cricket) from India s biggest sports broadcaster reach into its viewers livings rooms through legitimate means.
