Mumbai. April 10, 2001

The prized position at ZEE goes to an advertising person.

Zee Telefilms Limited today announced the appointment of Mr. Sandeep Goyal as its new Group Broadcasting CEO. Mr. Goyal is currently President of Rediffusion DY&R, one of the top ten advertising agencies in India.

Shareholders including promoter shareholders have been looking for the right talent to head its content business as per A.T. Kearney’s recommendation (which was to structure the company’s business under Content, Access, Education & Corporate Services- common shared services).

“We are happy that we have found in Sandeep a right mix of creativity and commercial acumen.

Despite him being young, just 38 years, we are sure Sandeep will be able to build on the strengths of Zee Network which he is inheriting. He will be able to build stronger bonds between the stakeholders (Media buyers, Subscribers/Viewers & the Society) by providing them the infotainment they are looking for. We welcome him on the team”, said Subhash Chandra.

“Though the search took us longer than we expected, we are happy to have zeroed in on Sandeep”, said Jagat Verma, Head of HRD.

When asked, if Mr. Sandeep Goyal is related to the promoter family, he denied yet said, “We, in the Essel Group, treat every Esselite as a family member”.

Mr. Sandeep Goyal is an MBA from FMS Delhi and has fifteen years of advertising experience in top agencies like HTA, Trikaya Grey and Mudra. He has been with Rediffusion-DY&R for the last seven years. Mr. Goyal brings to his new assignment rich brand building and communication experience spanning a diverse set of client businesses including Colgate-Palmolive, Citibank, Nestle, Smithkline Beecham, Maruti-Suzuki, AirTel, Eveready, BPL, Godfrey Philips, Reliance, Rediff.com amongst others.

Mr. Goyal will join the group headquarters in Mumbai, during the first week of June 2001. He will be in-charge of the operations of all the broadcasting channels of Zee Network.
